Six weeks after facing the devastating Cyclone Phailin, Cyclone Helen made landfall on the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh, killing seven people and destroying about 1 million crop acres. Together, the two cyclones have destroyed 15 percent of the state’s expected grain harvest for the season.

Gospel for Asia pastors in the state reported losses among their congregations, including damaged crops, collapsed home walls and rooftops blown away. Less than a week later, they prepared for Cyclone Lehar, categorized by the meteorological department as “severe.” The government evacuated 150,000 people from coastal villages.

Please pray for:

  • Comfort and peace for those who lost loved ones and property or suffered injuries during these storms.
  • Safety and guidance for our Compassion Services teams as they provide relief in affected areas.
  • Wisdom for government officials responding to the storm.
  • Many to know God’s love through these storms.
